Overview
Walking helps people think, but it is easy to walk in circles. Creativity Walks gives the walk a structure. You describe a problem on your phone, and the glasses take you through Edward de Bono’s six thinking hats, from facts to feelings to new ideas, a stretch of the walk for each. A short prompt appears, then the screen goes blank, so the next half minute is yours.

- Six hats
- The walk splits into six equal stretches, one per hat, in de Bono’s order: facts, feelings, caution, benefits, new ideas, process.
- A thought, then quiet
- Every interval the glasses show a prompt, and the next interval they show nothing, so there is time to think about it.
- Look up
- Looking up shows where you are: the time, the hat, and how long until the next one.
How it works
The phone sends the problem, the length of the walk and how often to prompt. The glasses server asks GPT-3.5 for four prompts per hat, 15 words or fewer, and keeps the walk clock: six equal stretches, and every interval either a prompt card or a blank screen. Looking up shows the time, the current hat and the minutes until the next. Each screen goes through the AugmentOS cloud to the Mentra app and over Bluetooth to the glasses.
System
Two practices
Six Hats is one. The other, Inspiration Walks, swaps the hats for six people you name, and the model writes each stretch’s prompts from that person’s point of view. Both share the same clock, the same rhythm of prompt and quiet, and the same look-up card.
Design
The 2025 web app was a dark, monospaced form in three tabs: setup, the generated prompts, and a progress screen with two bars. The redesign keeps every step and treats the walk as a route. Paper and contour lines instead of a terminal, the six hats as six stretches of one path, and a walker moving along it, so the phone shows where you are in the walk at a glance.
